NEEDS TO BE CHANGED!

My designs are based on material experiments with lots of details. They are mostly hand made and they have simple shapes. My work is inbetween design and art, It is often a product were the function is practical, but because my material manipulations it is not a standart design. I am fascinated by textiles or textile techniques. In my work you can often find fabrics or an other material that I treated as a fabric.

I am an inquiring person, I see things in my own way, this gives me a unique perspective on things and you can see this back in my work. They arise out of material research. While experimenting I look and react on what I did. Because I experiment so much I often have a quiet variated range of works. Im also quite stubborn this is why I also like to work on my own. Often while im working it is not looking like I had in mind but it gives me inspiration for an other version witch does work.

I think it is important to recycle my material or to make it sustainable or durable. I am also quite against mass production, this is because I like the unique hand made look, every piece is different. It is also because mass production overall is not so great for our environment. So it is much better for the nature to produce in a different way. I am more into micro production(it is closer to home) this is more durable and you have more control over how your producing. This is also why I am building up my own studio.

I finished my havo diploma and after that I went to the brede basis opleiding In Utrecht. I did this for one year to build up a portfolio. After that I went to the Willem de Kooning academy and I am still studying there. I am now in my third year. I choose a minor witch is autonomous: hacking. I choose this because I like to work/start a project in an autonomous way, first start for yourself work on the things you find interesting and go on with that. The subject is hacking, I choose this because I like to do things different. Intervening in a production process, or working with a material with techniques witch are mostly not used that way.
