PROJECTS
ELECTRIC PILLOW
With this project I learned how to to work with smart textiles. It was really nice to experiment with different circuis with lights, some would go on brighter than the others or you would need two batteries. I really liked to experiment with different ways of making switches. As you can see in my tests below, every sample has a place were you need to push it(a switch). This is why I decided to make a pillow were if you lay down on it the light goes on and if you don’t lay down, or you turn the pillow around it stays off. This was you can read in the evening, it is an alternative bed light.
SOME TESTS
MAKING PROCESS
First I started with sewing the lines on the felt with conductive thread. than I put some aluminium foil on it to make the surface a bit bigger.
Then I made some holes in the fabric to put the lights though and attached these to the conductive thread.
As last I wrapped the felt around the pillow, put the batteries in and sewed it together. Now the electric circuit is completed.
After putting the lights in I filled the pillow up with stuffing and put some more electric foil on top to complete the switch.
